Me Nelson is such an excellent storyteller. These men almost make me want to go out and find me a Russian. This particular book had all the men from and center and kept the reader engaged and riveted. The storyline was intense and heartbreaking. Some old friends from the previous books are lost.
I loved the devotion of Dmitry and Anatoly to their women. I'm not really sold on the pairing of Brigitte and Gabriel. Love little Anya, she's going to be a Firecracker.
Now for some Editorial complaints. The proofreaders and editors are not doing Me Nelson any favors. The words "titled" and "tilted" are not interchangeable not do they mean the same thing. However, throughout the booked, a person was constantly "titling" their head, which doesn't make sense. Another error that drive "batty" was the incorrect use of the Common acknowledgement for Yes or No. In Ms Nelson's books. Nodding was used for No, when in most circles, people Nod their heads for Yes and "Shake" their heads for No. Using these movements in the reverse left a confusing picture in the reader's "mindseye," just my opinion.

I finish reading this book about a month ago. It was ok but it put me a weird place. This book was about The Medlov family after the birth of their twins and Anya getting kidnapped by someone who was extremely close to the family....sort of. So, the book before this was about Anatoly, if I wasn't mistaken wasn't Anya like 3 in that book? Now in this book she is 5 but the twins were just born? I don't know that time line is really off but anyways....There are some close members of the family that get killed and Anya is abducted...ok. Seems pretty good so far. You find out who takes Anya and why....fine. Then that's where the story is kind of lost....nothing ever gets resolved. I would have liked for some sort of resolution to have happened between Dmitry and his sister. Royal....I really didn't care about and at this point in the book she is like in her late 20's early 30's why does it seem as if she is being described almost as a middle age woman? I really haven't cared for her character since the first book. Anya was cute but ok. Like I said nothing really got resolved. Anatoly and Renee did have some sort of chemistry and Gab and Briggy were ok. Like I said I was kind of lost on this book. The books did get better after the first but just I don't know. When authors decided to bring up an important subject in a story and it looks as if they will explore it and they don't....they ruin the book. I.E. Dmitry and his sister.
SPOILER ALERT! Anya, quite an audacious character! Cute, and too smart for her age! Plus very brave.I loved Davyd, such a sensible character, even though he gave Anya, a five years old, a gun! It was sad that Davyd, the man of reason was killed. In turn, Anya at five years old became a killer! There were scenes where my heart went to Dmitry due to all the misfortunes around him. I got very close to crying, until I could no longer hold my tears. Oh how I love Dmitry. In this book some characters came full circle, like Vladimir from 'The Chronicle of Young Dmitry Series', as well as his father, Khalid. What I found fascinating is how Vladimir, of all people, underestimated Dmitry. I keep falling more and more in love with Anatoly, love his disposition. I also began to like Gabriel, and Vasily. I continued to dislike Renee just as much as in the previous books. She should stop calling Anatoly "ana". The writer continues confusing the readers by changing characters names! Did you ever heard of editing?
"Vengence is mine says the Lord." Some people are just so greedy and eaten up with revenge they fail to see the bigger picture. The author wrote a story that proves that love of family is everything. Dmitry gave up being Czar to take care of his family and returned to being the Czar to retrieve his only daughter. He has come full circle from being a butcher to a loving father and husband and is forced to becoming a butcher again, so that he can leave a legacy of "do no f*ck with the Medlov family". I just hated the fact that Anya was kidnapped and forced to kill a man. How can a young child recover from being kidnapped, and losing her grandfather figure Davyd at the same time. What she does know is that her father, brother and cousin will burn the earth down to find and rescue her. She is a precious little gem who shows love to everyone. Even Manon, Dmitry's sister was taken by her personality. Poor Royal is about to have a heart attack from the fact that her baby's been kidnapped. She had to learn to let Dmitry do what he does best. Dmitry had to make sure that she understands this is what he has to be to get their baby back. Gabriel is starting to learn his place in the family and proved his trustworthiness to his family with helping to retrieve Anya. Anatoly even came to the realization that he was not as ready to become czar as he thought he was. During this story, he has grown from being a selfish self absorbed young man to a loving man towards Renee, who wants to love and protect her and their baby with everything he can be.
Latrivia writes about this complicated Medlov family with the reader sitting on the edge of their seats, anxious about what will happen next. The mystery and suspense in this story is well thought out and executed. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series.
